J. S. Bach's familiar "Chorale from Cantata No. 140 in Eb Major" was arranged & orchestrated for brass choir by Jerome Laszloffy. Written in 1731, it's German title is "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme"
(Awake, A Voice is Calling Us).
The ensemble consists of the standard orchestral complement of brass: 3 Bb Trumpets,
4 French Horns, 3 Trombones and 1 Tuba. Regal, serene and sonorous, this arrangement highlights the performers’ mastery of pitch, blend and dynamics.
