"Romp"
was composed by Marilyn Harris as an exciting 2-1/2
minutes for French horn, piano and listeners alike!
The piano sets the tone and tempo with
pulsating rhythms and suspended chords. The French horn
enters with intervals and sonorities foreshadowing the excitement
to come. From beginning to end this piece is a blast to
play and a real crowd pleaser! Great for an encore. This
piece has been played by studio players from New York to Los
Angeles - and was featured on a French horn recital by Chicago
Symphony Orchestra principal hornist Dale Clevenger.
"Romp" is a GRADE 4 French
horn solo and highlights the performer's mastery of large intervallic
jumps, varied articulations, syncopated rhythms and contrasting
dynamics. While notated in the classical style, it implies jazz
rhythms and tone. The duration is approximately 2-1/2
minutes.
A solo French horn part and piano score
are included. Available only through this website from Sound
Studio Publications.
